How it works
Services are all available individually or as a package and may involve designing an entire garden or re-modelling areas within a larger garden. A free initial visit is available to discuss your requirements and to consider costs and the potential budget. We work with budgets and gardens of all sizes. All fees and costs for the design work are agreed in advance of the design work commencing so that there are no nasty surprises in store.
This is an informal visit, for client and designer to meet, look at examples of the work we do, to view the garden, discuss requirements and budget and agree the fee structure for the design work. There is no charge for this initial meeting. (Clients over a radius of 15 miles from the office will be charged a mileage rate of 50p per mile).
Survey & Site Analysis
Once the design quotation has been accepted by the client, a survey is undertaken either by the designer or an independent surveyor, according to the size and complexity of the site. This will involve taking measurements and photographs of the garden and making a detailed assessment of the site, including the footprint of the house, boundaries, aspect ,levels and all existing features and vegetation.
Outline Concept Plan
An outline plan is drafted to scale according to the client brief and will comprise the main features of the design. At this stage, ideas can be worked through and amendments made as necessary.
Final Presentation Plans
When you are happy with the proposals, a detailed Final Plan of the garden is drawn up. Accompanying this will be a Layout Plan containing detailed dimensions of the final design together with a detailed Planting Plan. A written specification, construction drawings and other tender documentation are also prepared for contractors to provide an accurate quotation. Once appointed, the successful contractor works from these drawings and documents to set out and build the garden using the specified materials.
